ANNOUNCEMENTS

  • 179 families were served through the Food Bank program in January. Thank you to all the volunteers who helped in any way.  
  • $248.30 was collected for the GMC General Conference from the January 2024 Noisy Offering.
  • The February 4 communion will support the Laity and Ministers Alliance (LAMA).
  • Start saving your loose change for the February 11 Noisy Offering which will support The Moving Forward in Faith loan. 
  • Petrie Memorial is part of the Kroger Community Rewards Program. If you would like to link your Kroger Plus card to Petrie Memorial, please visit http://www.kroger.com. Once logged in to your account, search for Petrie Memorial Methodist Church or with the following account number, SF465. If you don’t have a Kroger Plus card, all you need to do is create an account that requires basic information, a valid email address, and a rewards card that can be picked up at your nearest Kroger store customer service counter.

Announcements for January 2024

  • 259 families were served through the Food Bank program in December. Thank you to 

all the volunteers who helped in any way.  

  • $608.00 was collected for Birthday for Jesus (a Gideon Ministry) from the December 

2023 Noisy Offering. 

  • Thank you to everyone who adopted Christmas angels from the Todd County School system. Petrie adopted 30 angels this year. What a blessing to the children in our county! 
  • The church offices will be closed on January 1 and 2 in observance of the New Year 

holiday.

  • Pastor Willard will be on vacation from January 3 – 9. Communion will be served on January 14 with the communion offering supporting Thailand Now Methodist Mission.
  • Start saving your loose change for the January 7 Noisy Offering which will support The 

GMC General Conference. 

  • **If you did not have an opportunity to complete a 2024 Stewardship Covenant, please

contact the church office. It’s not too late to pledge or indicate where you would like to

serve.**  (Many areas are still in need of volunteers.)

  • If you applied for the Endowment Scholarship last summer, please provide proof of 

registration for your 2024 spring semester classes and your most recent transcript.  

Scholarship funds for the spring semester will be issued in January.

  • A grief support group was formed in December 2021 by Yvonne Rundall. Beginning January 8, the group meets on Mondays from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. at POPs. All are welcome to come. For more information, contact Yvonne at 270-604-1541.

  • The last day for 2023 PM@PM activities will be December 6. See everyone again in

  • The Christmas cantata, “Christmas Presence” will be performed on December 13 at 6:00 p.m. and on December 17 at 5:00 p.m.
  • The Christmas Eve service will be held on December 24 at 5:00 p.m.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

  • 205 families were served through the Food Bank program in October. Thank you to all 

the volunteers who helped in any way.  

  • $450.87 was collected for The Sparrow Project from the October Noisy Offering. 
  • There will be NO Methodist Men’s breakfast for the month of November.
  • The November communion offering on November 5 will support The Sparrow Project.
  • Start saving your loose change for the November Noisy Offering which will support The 

Interfaith Center. Change will be collected on November 12.

  • November 19 will be our Thanksgiving meal following the 10:00 a.m. service. Make plans 

to join us.

  • There will be no PM@PM activities on November 22 due to Thanksgiving break for Todd 

County students. 

  • Additional AED training opportunities will be made available for anyone who would like 

to know how to use the defibrillators.  Please contact the church office to sign up.

  • The October communion offering will support Grace & Mercy, a home for women in crisis to recover and heal. 
  • Start saving your loose change for the October Noisy Offering which will support The Sparrow Project. Change will be collected on October 8.
  • There will be no PM@PM activities on October 11 due to fall break for Todd County students.

  • October 29 will be our 5th Sunday combined worship service at 10:00 a.m. followed by a potluck lunch.  Make plans to join us.
  • October 29 will be the LAMA 5th Sunday worship service at 5:00 p.m. at POPs.  Everyone is invited to attend.

  • Start saving your loose change for the September Noisy Offering which will support Petrie’s Community Assistance Fund. Change will be collected on September 3 (please note date change.)
  • The September communion offering will support the KY United Methodist Children’s Homes. Communion will be served on September 10 (please note date change.)
  • September is Petrie’s month to donate to the Interfaith Center.  They are currently requesting canned foods: soups, chili, spaghetti and meatballs, and other microwavable foods. You may drop donations off at Petrie or take directly to the Interfaith Center. 
  • 202 families were served through the Food Bank program in August. Thank you to all the volunteers who helped in any way.  
  • $400 was collected for the Methodist Mountain Mission from the August Noisy Offering. 
  • W.O.E. is S.H.E. Disciple Groups will begin in September. For more information, contact Emily Myers at 270-265-1068.
  • Three Automated External Defibrillator AEDs have been purchased and installed (one near the elevator/Fellowship Hall, one near the sanctuary, and one at POPs.)  Training will be offered in the  coming weeks.  If anyone is interested in learning how to use the AEDs, please notify the church office.  Trainings will be scheduled once we determine how many are interested.

CHILDREN’S MINISTRY

July Sunday Funday

Some of the children at Petrie Memorial had the opportunity to do a service project for their Sunday Funday activity. They made small bouquets of flowers and handmade cards. They visited Hearthstone and some church members’ homes. It was a great experience!

Church Wide Wednesday Night Kickoff

A Church wide Wednesday Night Kickoff will be held on Wednesday, August 16th.

Team Kid Volunteers

We are still in need of several volunteers for our Wednesday night program. We cannot run this program successfully without help from the congregation. 

Time commitment: Team Kid starts on Wednesday, August 23rd and ends in May. We do not have church on spring break, fall break, Christmas break or snow days. Dinner is from 5:00-5:30, which you are welcome to join and eat with students!

***If we do not have enough volunteers for Wednesday night bus transportation , we will not run the bus.

Team Kid Training

Volunteers will complete a Team Kid Training on Sunday, August 13th from 11:30-12:30pm. Lunch will be provided!

 The July communion offering will support the Micah Mission Center in Hopkinsville, KY.

205 families were served through the Food Bank program in June. Thank you to all the volunteers who helped in any way. If anyone would like to donate food or money to the Food Bank program, it would be much appreciated.

June Announcements

June Sunday Funday

Our June Sunday Funday will be a service project! Children will meet at the church on June 25 at 1:00pm where they will make cards. We will leave the church at 1:30 to go on home visits! 

VBS Training Days

VBS Volunteers are invited to choose a date to attend a training session. Training will be offered on Tuesday, June 6th from 9:00-10:00am and on Thursday, June 8th from 9:00-10:00am. 

June Noisy Offering

Start saving your loose change for the June Noisy Offering which will support Kentucky Annual Conference Camps (Camp Loucon). Change will be collected on June 11.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

  • The May communion offering will support Native American Ministries. “Native American Ministries Sunday serves to remind United Methodists of the gifts and contributions made by Native Americans to our society.”
  • 212 families were served through the Food Bank program in April. Thank you to all the volunteers who helped in any way. If anyone would like to donate food or money to the Food Bank program, it would be much appreciated.
  • Start saving your loose change for the May Noisy Offering which will support Camp Crossway. Change will be collected on May 14. 
  • If you haven’t already…..please notify the church office if you have a child who is promoting from pre-k, kindergarten, 5th grade or 8th grade or graduating from high school or college/university.
  • The last day of school for the Todd County School System is May 22. 
  • For anyone attending a college, university, vocational or technical school for the 2023/2024 calendar year, you can apply for the Petrie Memorial Methodist Church Endowment Scholarship. Scholarships will be awarded to applicants who meet the requirements and submit a completed application prior to JUNE 1st. Please contact the church office for an application. Applications must be completed on an annual basis.
  • The United Methodist Men hosted a churchwide breakfast on April16.  $2,701.31 was collected for Camp Crossway. 

Vacation Bible School

VBS is scheduled for June 12 – 15 from 8:30 – 11:30am. Volunteers are needed to be crew leaders, help with preschool, and to help with decorating and music!

There is a VBS display in the Fellowship Hall with a list of supplies needed.  Pick a post-it note and bring that supply to the Children’s Office.
