Announcements for August 2024

  • 215 families were served through the Food Bank program in July. Thank you to all  the volunteers who helped in any way. Double bagged plastic bags are needed and can be dropped off at the church office. (On average, we need 1,000 plastic bags per month.)
  • $361.00 was collected from the July Communion offering for the Todd County Backpack Program that provides weekend meals to Todd County students.
  • $874.00 was collected for the VBS Clean Water Mission Offering during the July Noisy Offering.
  • The communion offering for August will support the Food Bank program.
  • Start saving your loose change for the August 11 Noisy Offering which will support the LAMA Backpack Program which provides school supplies to students in need.
  • If anyone would like a hard copy of the approved Church Council minutes and the June Financial report, please contact the church office.
  • Narcotics Anonymous meetings are now held in the front room of the Outreach Building each evening (except Tuesdays) beginning at 7:00 p.m. Please let anyone who needs this information know.

  • $90.00 was collected for Camp Crossway from the May Communion offering.
  • $324.00 was collected for Camp Crossway during the May Noisy Offering. 
  • For anyone attending a college, university, vocational or technical school for the 2024/2025 calendar year, you can apply for the Petrie Memorial Methodist Church Endowment Scholarship. Scholarships will be awarded to applicants who meet the requirements and submit a completed application prior to JUNE 1st. Please contact the church office for an application. Applications must be completed on an annual basis.
  • The communion offering for June will support the MidSouth Annual Conference Mission 
    • Offering which will be equally shared with four approved GMC Mission Partners:  
      • Slovakia Annual Conference of the GMC, Jennifer & Tim Goshorn – serving in Peru, Anup & Darcy Rai – serving in Bangkok, and Thailand NOW Abundant Life Training Center.

Recovery.

  •   The MidSouth Provisional Annual Conference (or P.A.C.) will hold its annual conference in Maryville, Tennessee from June 24-26. 

Announcements for May 2024

  • 210 families were served through the Food Bank program in April. Thank you to all the volunteers who helped in any way.  
  • $140.00 was collected for the Methodist Mountain Mission from the April Communion offering.
  • $485.00 was collected for Hearts and Hammers during the April Noisy Offering. 
  • The Methodist Men hosted a churchwide breakfast fundraiser on April 21. $3,061.40 was collected for Camp Crossway. 
  • The communion offering for May will support Camp Crossway. 
  • Start saving your loose change for the May 12 Noisy Offering which will also support Camp Crossway.
  • Please notify the church office if you have a child who is promoting from pre-k, 5th grade, or 8th grade or graduating from high school or college/university. 
  • The last day of school for the Todd County School System is May 17.

  • The Methodist Men will sponsor a church-wide breakfast fundraiser for Camp Crossway 

on Sunday, April 21 at 7:00 a.m.

  • Confirmation Sunday will be April 28.

Announcements for March 2024

  • 220 families were served through the Food Bank program in February. Thank you to all the volunteers who helped in any way.  
  • $260.00 was collected for the Laity and Ministers Alliance (LAMA) from the February Communion offering.
  • $401.00 was collected for the Moving Forward in Faith Loan during the February Noisy Offering. 
  • The communion offering for March will support the Back2Back Foundation.  Back to Back Inc is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization established by Brice Long and his wife to meet the needs of families in Christian, Todd, and Trigg counties primarily during the holiday season.  
  • Daylight Saving time will begin at 2:00 a.m. on Sunday, March 10. Remember to move your clocks ahead one hour. 
  • Start saving your loose change for the March 10 Noisy Offering which will support Todd County Central High School’s Project Graduation.
  • March is Petrie’s designated month to donate to the Interfaith Center. Currently, they need a variety of cereals and canned foods (vegetables – no corn or green beans, spaghetti, and chili.) There is a box in the Fellowship Hall labeled “Interfaith Center” that you can drop your donations in, or you may take them directly to the Interfaith Center.
  • The Methodist Mountain Mission truck will be here on March 12.  Please have all 

donations brought to the Mountain Mission Closet (next to the youth hall) by Monday, March 11. If you would prefer to make a monetary donation, please go to https://www.methodistmountainmission.org/ to make an online donation, or checks can be mailed to Methodist Mountain Mission, PO Box 888, Jackson, KY 41339.

  • $608.00 was collected for Birthday for Jesus (a Gideon Ministry) from the December 

2023 Noisy Offering. 

  • Thank you to everyone who adopted Christmas angels from the Todd County School system. Petrie adopted 30 angels this year. What a blessing to the children in our county! 
  • The church offices will be closed on January 1 and 2 in observance of the New Year 

holiday.

  • Pastor Willard will be on vacation from January 3 – 9. Communion will be served on January 14 with the communion offering supporting Thailand Now Methodist Mission.
  • Start saving your loose change for the January 7 Noisy Offering which will support The 

GMC General Conference. 

  • **If you did not have an opportunity to complete a 2024 Stewardship Covenant, please

contact the church office. It’s not too late to pledge or indicate where you would like to

serve.**  (Many areas are still in need of volunteers.)

  • If you applied for the Endowment Scholarship last summer, please provide proof of 

registration for your 2024 spring semester classes and your most recent transcript.  

Scholarship funds for the spring semester will be issued in January.

  • A grief support group was formed in December 2021 by Yvonne Rundall. Beginning January 8, the group meets on Mondays from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. at POPs. All are welcome to come. For more information, contact Yvonne at 270-604-1541.

  • The Christmas cantata, “Christmas Presence” will be performed on December 13 at 6:00 p.m. and on December 17 at 5:00 p.m.

the volunteers who helped in any way.  

  • $450.87 was collected for The Sparrow Project from the October Noisy Offering. 
  • There will be NO Methodist Men’s breakfast for the month of November.
  • The November communion offering on November 5 will support The Sparrow Project.
  • Start saving your loose change for the November Noisy Offering which will support The 

Interfaith Center. Change will be collected on November 12.

  • November 19 will be our Thanksgiving meal following the 10:00 a.m. service. Make plans 

to join us.

  • There will be no PM@PM activities on November 22 due to Thanksgiving break for Todd 

County students. 

  • Additional AED training opportunities will be made available for anyone who would like 

to know how to use the defibrillators.  Please contact the church office to sign up.
