New Youth/Associate Pastor
/in NewsHello Petrie Memorial UMC!
My name is Joe Cox and I am very excited to join you all in July. I was born in Oklahoma but raised in Elizabethtown, KY. I attended Lindsey Wilson College where I played tennis and graduated with a Bachelors in Christian Ministries. I have spent the last four years attending Asbury Theological Seminary pursing a Master’s of Divinity, which I completed this May. I have been in ministry for 10 years beginning in camping ministry at Camp Loucon. Youth Ministry is my passion and is what God has called and equipped me for. I believe that youth are not just the church of the future, but that they are also an important part of the current church.
I enjoy watching and playing all kinds of sports. I particularly enjoy the Cubs and all Louisville sports. I prefer spending time outdoors kayaking, hiking, fishing and I’m excited to explore Todd County. I look forward to joining you soon and I can’t wait to see what awesome things God has in store.
Camp Loucon
/in NewsCamp Loucon is coming right up! This is a wonderful opportunity for kids to have fun and learn about God at a camp that is fairly close to home. This camp is in Leitchfield, KY and offers campers lots of outdoor activities and a week of worship and memory making. Approximately 10 of our kids from Petrie have expressed that they would like to attend this year. The cost is: $219 for 2nd – 4th grade; $369 for 5th-12th grade. The church pays for half of the cost for each child to attend. We are looking for sponsors to pay the remaining half (or a portion of it) for each of the children to go. This would be: $110 for 2nd – 4th grade; $185 for 5th-12th grade. However, any little bit would help. If you would like to donate, please contact Emily Myers or Vicki Ross. We hope to have many Happy Campers this year!!
